Rhagfyr/December

Mae Rhagfyr wedi bod yn fis prysur!

Cynhaliwyd gwasanaeth carolau yng Nglannau Dyfrdwy ddechrau mis Rhagfyr.  Arweiniwyd y gwasanaeth gan y Barchedig Sally Baird gyda ‘Brass from the Pass’ yn cyfeilio. Roedd yn amser cinio pleserus iawn. Yn ddiweddarach, gosodwyd bwrdd yn ymyl ddesg y Gaplaniaeth gyda sticeri lliwgar a chlychau papur. Gofynnwyd i’r myfyrwyr addurno’r rhain ac ysgrifennu neges o obaith ar y cefn. Manteisiodd llawer ar y cyfle i wneud hyn a chyn pen dim, dechreuodd y goeden Nadolig lenwi.

Roedd gan y Gaplaniaeth goeden Nadolig yn Iâl hefyd.  Bu’r myfyrwyr Sgiliau Byw’n Annibynnol yn garedig iawn yn creu’r tagiau siâp celyn a gofynnwyd i’r myfyrwyr ysgrifennu eu neges Nadolig eu hunain ar gefn ‘y dail’.  Dangoswyd y cyfan yn y llyfrgell yn ystod wythnos olaf y tymor.

Bu aelodau’r Undeb Cristnogol yn brysur iawn hefyd. Ar ddechrau’r mis buont yn gwnud Cristinglau gyda orennau, tâp coch disglair a fferins. Yr wythnos ganlynol buont yn gweini cacennau cartref, siocled poeth (gyda malws melys a hufen) ac anrhegion, i gyd am ddim, yn y gwasanaeth carolau. Ond roedd y myfyrwyr yn gallu rhoi cyfraniad chododd yr Undeb Cristnogol £28 at Ambiwlans Awyr Cymru. Cafodd y gwasanaeth carolau ei gynnal yn yr ystafell gyffredin a bu cryn chwerthin wrth i’r myfyrwyr ganu’r carolau.

Ar ddiwedd y gwasanaeth, dangoswyd ‘Fideo’r Adfent’ am y tro cyntaf.  Cafodd y ffilm ei gwneud gan fyfyrwyr Cyfryngau yn Iâl a Glannau Dyfrdwy gan ffilmio myfyrwyr a staff pob safle yn darllen adnodau o’r Beibl, yn adrodd stori’r Geni. Yna cafodd y ffilm ei ddangos yn y rhan fwyaf o’r llyfrgelloedd. Roedd hwn yn waith gwych gan y myfyrwyr ac roedd yn hyfryd gweld cymaint o fyfyrwyr a staff yn cymryd rhan i ddweud Stori’r Nadolig.

Yn olaf, ar ddiwedd y flwyddyn, rhoddodd y Gaplaniaeth fathodynnau digidol i bawb a gymerodd ran i greu’r Fideo Adfent; y myfywry hynny a gwblhaodd y llwybr ffydd, ac aelodau’r Undeb Cristnogol am eu holl waith caled.  Rhoddwyd bathodynnau arweinyddiaeth i’r criw ffilmio’r Fideo Adfent hefyd, yn ogystal â threfnydd y llwybr ffydd, a’r  myfyrwyr sydd wedi arwain Astudiaethau Beiblaidd a sesiynau Adfyfyrio yn yr Undeb Cristnogol. Diolch yn fawr i bawb sydd wedi cyfrannu at y Gaplaniaeth eleni!  Diolch!

December has been a busy month!

At the beginning of December there was a carol service at Deeside. Rev Sally Baird led the service whilst ‘Brass from the Pass’ played. It was a very enjoyable lunchtime. Later on a table was setup next to the chaplaincy desk with colourful stickers and paper bells. Students were asked to decorate these and write a message of hope on the back. Many took the opportunity to do this and soon the Christmas tree started to fill up.

Over at Yale the chaplaincy also had a Christmas tree. ILS students kindly created holly tags and students were asked to write their own Christmas message on the back. This was then displayed in the library during the last week of term.

Christian Union members were also very busy. At the beginning of the month they made Christingles with oranges, sparkly red tape and sweets. The following week they served homemade cakes, hot chocolate (with marshmallows and cream) and presents, all for free, at the carol service. Students however could give a donation and CU raised over £28 for Wales Air Ambulance. The carol service was held in the common room and the music students had a great laugh singing the carols.

At the end of the service the ‘Advent Video’ was premiered. This film was made by media students at Yale and Deeside and filmed students and staff from all sites reading verses from the Bible, telling the Nativity story. It was then shown across most of the libraries. The students did a great job and it was lovely to see how many students and staff got involved to tell the Christmas Story.

Finally, at the end of the year the Chaplaincy awarded digital badges to all those involved in the Advent Video, those who completed the faith trail, and members of Christian Union for all their hard work. Leadership badges were also awarded to the Advent Video film crew, the organiser of the faith trail, and students who lead Bible Studies and Reflection sessions at Christian Union. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the chaplaincy this year! Thank you!
